Here's the problem- 2001 HO w/6 speed has developed a coolant leak. Drips off of the bottom of the bell housing. Looking at the engine from the top I can see a coolant trail coming down the drivers side of the block somewhere from the top but the engine is set so far back under the firewall I can't see exactly from where.

Only leaks when running and leaks about a quart a day running.

Had the clutch changed recently and I don't know if they messed something up. No apparent hose leaks.

Anyone know if there are freeze plugs back there or hoses that I can't see from the top?

Appreciate any input.

 

to start , I would check the block for # 53 casting; if # 53 ,do a search other than that give more info. and somebody can help.

 

There is a cam plug and a oil gally plug in behind the bell h. so......yea check your 53 # and then I would suspect head gskt /cracked head (common if overheated or abused)

I've got the dreaded # 53 block in my 99 dodge 24v ! i'm in the process with Cummins dealer for a replacement because of a cracked block. i only got 113,900 miles on mine. If this is your problem you need to get ahold of Cummins Inc. and let them know your problem and i believe they'll help you out some ! Hopefully , good luck , sully
