codes after fuel filter change?
My truck has been great no problems for sometime now.
I noticed my fuel pressure slowly getting lower over the last month or so and figured it was time to change the fuel filter again. Bled the filter by bumping the starter a few times but wasn't enough had to crack a couple of injector lines and all was good.
But once the truck was running again I had a CEL. So I did the key method to bring up the codes and this is what I got. p0500, p1693, p ECU, p1689, p0216, p0234, p1693. The 0500 and 1693 are the tires spinning and a companion code I guess but the rest I don't know. Do you?
The LP was actting funny when I was trying to bleed the filter as well sometimes only 6psi and other times I cycled it I got 11psi (the highest I ever see so far is 11psi) it was like what ever controls the LP was not giving it full power. Is this normal?
I look forward to everyones input, Thanks

P1689 No Communication Between ECM & Injection Pump Module
P0216 Fuel Injection Pump Timing Failure
P0234 Turbo Boost Limit Exceeded
Doesn't bode well for your Injection Pump.
0234, Map Sensor or sticky turbo wastegate.
Maybe, just maybe, the top two could be a result of cranking and cranking to get it started after the filter change.
Or, your LP is going bad, hence the fluctuating pressures.
Best bet, get thyself to Autozone and have them clear the codes and see what ones if any come back.

I just went through the same thing, your code 0216 is the injection pump timing failure. You need to get a pressure check on your lift pump, when I bumped my starter and left the key on I could hear my lift pump, but it was not throwing any fuel at the injection pump.
Sorry to give you bad news but it is only a matter of time before your injection pump goes out, because you have the timing failure code. Those pumps work on pressure and pressure alone. look on ebay for injection pumps you can get them for $1100.00 vs $1700.00 off the shelf somewhere.
