I have a 1998 2500 4x4 Quad cab. So far I have replaced the pump, lift pump in the tank and fuel lines. It ran good for about two weeks. It started acting up and the codes(p0122, p0121) came up. I replaced the TPS($350) Now I am getting two codes p1693 and p1689. The truck just cuts off while driving down the road. Thanks for any help. Phil

 

P0121-Accel. Position sensor volts do not agree with idle validation signal.

P0122-Accelerator pedal position sensor (APPS) signal votage to low.

P1689-No comminication between ECM and injection pump module.

P1693-DTC detected in PCM/ECM most likely the ECM.


There ya go. When the truck cuts off does it stay off or does it come back on? If you need anymore help let me know.

 

It starts right up. What should I look for that would cause the codes.

 

So are you still getting 4 codes or just 2 codes? Explain how the truck cuts off when driving down the highway?

 

I am just two codes p1693 and p1689. The truck cuts off but starts right back up. I turn the key off and hit the starter and it starts up.

 

When the truck cuts off is it like an electrical death or more like a running out of fuel death??

 

More like a fuel death. I checked the conn. at the pump ans EMC. I also check the grounds for loose conections. I reset the program to stock setting. I have a superchip with the truck.

 

I had a bad connection on my chip where the wire taps into the VP44 wire. The company sent me a new tap and it works great after I changed the tap. Mine would cut out like the switch was turned off but it would come back on its owen.

 

I found the problem. I had a bad fuel system relay. I switched it out and the truck doesn't cut off anymore!!
