Truck just sounded wierd so I went ahead and checked for codes... only one that came up is 0500. Anybody have a clue what it is? I don't recall ever seeing that code being brought up...

 

well if the code is a P0500 this is -
No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal
but the odd thing is that this only comes up under the gasoline section not the diesel.
It says possible causes are-
*intermittent condition
*VSS open between controller anti-lock brake and PCM
*VSS circuit shorted to ground
*VSS circuit shorted to voltage
*PCM

 

have you done a burn out? or rev up your engine while stopped? that will set a 0500 code......
another thing is the speedometer sensor in the rear differential could be going bad, or maybe a bad connection

 

Hmm, same thing happenedin my 02 1500... but under a different code I think.


Yeah, I've been known to do a burnout or two...
