Why roll in new uppers, they don't wear, just change the lower half. Done that many times and never had a problem.

very true Haulin, our customers dont like that idea. they want all new bearing , of all those bearing jobs you did , how many really needed the bearing replaced ? as for the nozzles. Even the very few engine we have removed with broken nozzle have been fine with no scorched walls or discolored piston. they still squirt the oil up in the general area with the diameter of the nozzle is pretty much the same all the way thru.

This is very true, generally the mains don't wear as fast as the rods. The wear on a main is the lower half the wear in a rod is the upper half. This is just normal wear, not where a problem has come up. 3208 Cats are the big culpret here where it is factor advised to change the bearings at 150,000 miles. The quick and easy deal is change the lower half of the mains and of course the rods are just as easy to just change the whole bearing.

Most customers do not realize that the precision of the bearings is that close that changing one half is acceptable. I will probably do that at 300k or so on my engine, just to be safe. Hey, almost 1/3 of the way there.... I will not mess with the upper half unless the engine is out for a complete rebuild, especially with the coller jets in these engines.
