cleaning turbo?

My turbo is alittle on the dirty side. How can i clean it? is there some way i can get it serviced or something. I just wanna make sure its up and doing its job. Also what would be a better intake? BHAF or Scotty II? or ...?

Dirty on the inside? It's probably oil off the AFE mixed with fine dirt that got through. The compressor housing is only held on with a big snap ring, you can pull the housing off and use carb cleaner to spray off the impeller and clean out the housing. Just make sure you blow all the carb cleaner out of the housing so it doesn't get sucked into the engine after you put it back together and start it up. When you pull the housing off, keep it straight so you don't damage the impeller. I like the BHAF because oiled cotton filters will let fine dirt through.

You can take it apart & clean it if you want to but as long as the Inlet wheel (fan blades) spin freely and it spools up well when you hit the throttle, I would not worry about it.

I wipe the throat with a clean, dry cloth when I'm in there and let it go. A light film of oil is normal and no big concern. Check for free spinning and nominal side to side play in wheel shaft (there will always be some). If those two items check out - your good to go.

the reason i want to know how to clean it is becasue it doesnt feel like its getting full boost. Also it doesnt have that distinct turbo sound. It still whistles a little but sounds like theres a hair dryer in there too.

Follow the piping from the turbo to the intake manifold. When you see a clamp, make sure it's tight. Should be 9 all together.
