Cleaned IAT sensor + now a code thrown
First of all , I don’t have a scan tool and probably have to wait til Tuesday . I have been having the long wait to start light staying on before it goes off . Hot or cold , it doesn’t matter. The time it takes is exactly the same . Truck would run fine first thing in the morning ( still WTS light stayed on a long time) then after I shut it off and went to my next destination , it was super sluggish. Last few days even in the cold morning , it was sluggish . So I pulled and cleaned the IAT sensor , tested it at room temp . It did have a resistance of 13-17 ( I forget the exact number) re-installed it and immediately my check engine light popped on . The check engine light hasn’t come on in over a year . ( crank case sensor that time) wondering if I should reset the ECM ? Going to try and find someone with a code reader next day or two . Any other ideas ?
I pulled the sensor out again , .... the old one has a resistance of 12.23 and the new one is 11.96 at ( room temperature ) . I put the hair dryer on them and both them pretty much drop at the same rate . Wonder if the numbers have to be exact ?
I put the original cleaned one back in . On the weekend , I re-sanded all my grounds down and reset ECM . The check engine light is off , the truck has f7ll power again . Only quirk now is ,when I turn the key, the wait to start light takes about 2 seconds to come on . Last 10 years or more it was always there as soon as I turned the key on . But once the light comes on , it is going off again more like it used to .
