ck your intake heater
i just came from the ******* after the ck engine light came on. appearently the two bolts on the air intake heater were never tightened from the factory (the ones where the wires are) and shorted out the heater. the other problem is, when it shorted out, it started an electrical fire at the conections and fused the two bolts and connectors together (welded). the dealer has seen a couple of these come through and this particular dealer doesn't see a whole lot of trucks!!

Re:ck your intake heater
One of my intake heater wires stays hot all the time. I have them disconnected right now but it is really startin to get cold down here and early morning runs to the old school house are getting a little more difficult. My only problem is i can't find my volt meter. I know it has to either be a bad relay or a short to power. Anybody else had this type of problem?

Olered97, sounds like a relay.

j, in some of my previous posts, you'll find a suggestion to torque those bolts to spec. There are now three reasons for this:
1. What happened to you
2. Keep the system from loosing boost
3. Keep from blowing that little gasket out from between the air feed and the grid heaters
