Changing Thermostat
Hi
I don't think its that difficult, but wanted to check w/you first. I'm about to go try to change my thermostat (see signature). Are there any hints or unknown tricks I should be aware of....my first time and not too mechanically inclined... My plan is: (1) drain antifreez to below the top level, (2) remove the 3 bolts on top of of the thermostat housing and move the housing (3) pick out the old stat (4) insert the new (5) put housing back on with the 3 bolts (6) refill to top level. The new stat has the rubber "ring"--is there a gasket too?

No gasket just the rubber ring. Forget about draining the antifreeze, just take off the 3 bolts. Put a catch pan under the truck, you will loose very little antifreeze.
