Can the brake assemblies be swapped from one complete Dana 80 rear to another? I have disk brakes and a lot of the complete rears I've found have drum brakes. My rear end is in need of a rebuild, but it's not LSD and I'd like to put a LSD rear in. It would be easier to just swap out the whole thing as opposed to tearing into it and puting the LSD unit into the housing.

 

I dont think you can swap the disc (factory) on to a drum axel. cause if you could there would be posts out there on it being done, I've looked and I could not find any,
I'd keep the brakes(disc) any day over a drum set and a Factory LSD.

You may very well be able to swap in the LSD from the drum axel

 

I'm pretty sure I could, but I fear the bearing race may have spun inside the carrier, thus ruining the carrier.
