Angry Can't get brake drum off!

I need to get my right rear brake drum off to see what is causing it to lock up and squeek. I have tried beating it with a hammer, soaking it in WD40, and putting it on jackstands in second gear and stomping on the brakes. It is irritating me to say the least. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Keep stomping on the brakes. Try getting the speed up to about 20-25mph and stomping on them. Make sure you've got a couple of lug nuts on there loosely so the drum doesn't go flying.

Try turning the brake shoe adjuster on the backing plate.

Its on the bottom, behind the little rubber grommet.

Turning it one way will tighten it and the other loosen.

I don't remember whitch way, but you'll figure it out.

Hope your drum isn't so grooved on the inside that it actually key locked on to the shoes.

Good luck................Jim

jack up the rearend start truck up (with tires off) shift from drive to reverse while slamming on the brake peddle, should come off very easily then. if that dont work your gona havta bust the star wheel in the opposite direction to move the shoes away from the drums. been doing brakes for 20 years, the above directions have allways worked for me.

First off take a deep breath!

Follow mini14's advice. Forward to reverse. WILL WORK!

Thanks for the advice guys, it finally came off after a few more tries. I think my automatic adjuster thing was over adjusting and causing my brake to drag and so on. We'll see.
