Exclamation can fuel leak cause faulty ECM or injector

New to the 2nd gen cummins, picked up a 5.9l, 1999, 2500, 5 speed 4w. Now I have my first introduction to issues. Went to take it to the garage for some basic work, truck started OK but would only rev to 1500 rpm. Left it overnight and wouldn't start, pushed into garage and throwing a 606 code which I am told a bad ECM. Also was told another code, 1693 which I am told cold be a bad injector pump. I do have a small fuel leak around filter (after market), hence the garage trip. Could driving with this small leak allow air in and do damage to the injector pump. Any suggestions or insight would be welcomed. Thanks in advance. BTW, no previous issues, was driving for a couple weeks without any issues.New to the 2nd gen cummins, picked up a 5.9l, 1999, 2500, 5 speed 4w. Now I have my first introduction to issues. 1693 is a companion code, it says that an error code is set in another module.
The 0606 can be set in the ECM and in the PCM, you will need to check which module has the problem.
In some cases shorts to ground in the sensor wiring can lead to erroneous setting of this code, and in some other cases re-flashing the firmware can remedy the problem.

A fuel leak letting air in could lead to problems with the injection pump, but since the filters are after the lift pump there should only be fuel leaking out, and no air getting in.

As a standard precaution I would charge both batteries and have them load tested separately.
Also all the grounds and the battery wiring should be checked, these are weak points in older Dodge trucks.
