Cam pos sensor
My friend has a 2001 24v, he was having a lack of power problem, so I suggested checking the fuel supply pressure, he went and put a lift pump on it on his own, now he states he is still having the problem, only when the truck is cold soaked. I had him come to my shop today so I could boot into it with my scanner, and drive it to see if I could duplicate the problem, I drove it and it ran like a champ, I did notice that it would over- rev at wot, up to 4,000 rpm, so I pulled the codes, it had a p 0316 which is a cmp and an overboost code.
How common is just a cmp on an 2001, also I had no tach signal from the cmp on my scanner, however the tach on the dash worked fine. I figured that the over revving was because of the lack of the cam signal.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks, Tim
