Calling all cold weather guys!!

Winter is fast approching and I need new batteries, so what are the cold weather guys running? What cold cranking amp should I get? Optima yes/no?

I run the stock size batts, 15-40w oil, and white bottle power service. Without the block heater I know she'll start till -15* out.

As far as optimas, some had said they had issues, but I think most people are happy with em. I think personaly they are overkill, over price

wal mart has maxx 850cca for $75ea... 9 year warranty and 3 of that is free replacement

I have stock batteries from Walmart, 0w40 oil, no problem at any temp.

i use pow-r-surge batteries, run 5-40 year round, remove the fan on nov 1st, and usually cover-up some of the radiator

x3 on the walmart Maxx batteries. No problems with them in 2 years and they are cheap.

I'm running Group 31 batteries from a local parts place. 1200 CA, 950 CCA. I run 0w40 or 5w40 in the winter. Starts everytime.

I put cold fronts on the griill, 15-40oil, plug her in -15C or below, add 100mL of anti-gel every fillup.

I run 5-40 sythetic in the winter, Find the best batteries you can ( I use Costco or Les schwab). The biggest issue I have is the new low sulfer diesel gels really easy, I put 4x the standard treatment in and still have issues . I'm going to try a #1/#2 50/50 blend this winter.

Diehard(they were in the truck when I bought it) got new ones under warranty, 1700CCA total, never had a problem starting except at -31F when it was not plugged in.

2X on the Costco batteries, I also run synthetic oil throughout and use a winter front, almost year round. It only comes off long enough to run the air-conditioning during the short "tough sledding season". .

x4 on te wal-mart bats there good and Work, Hey is there any way to get a200-205 thermostat? for these I have an 05 thats in my sig, also you guys know of a way to shut off the fan in the winter?
