Bypassing the A/C compressor

Well,
I am getting ready for a trip and find out the A/C clutch bearing went bad

I figured I had 2 options, Replace the clutch or bypass the A/C

The belt configuration under the hood of My truck shows one route for A/C and one for without A/C.

When looking at the tensioner pulley, it should be smooth for A/C and grooved for non A/C.

When checking with three auto parts stores "Napa, Winchester auto parts (like napa) and AZ" they all show one pulley for both applications so something doesn't sound right.

I checked all three auto part stores for a new clutch assembly and they only carry a complete compressor. I don't have the time to replace the compressor before the trip so I am stumped right now.

Any help would be great.
Thanks, Ken

Look at some junk yards because there's no reason to open the A/C system if the compressor still works. That would be very costly. Possibly check with some A/C shops. They might have one. But I would get it fixed because you use the compressor for more than just cool summer air and not using it for an extended amount of time is bad for the seal which can allow the freon to escape. Then you will have a far more expensive fix to deal with.

All you need is a belt for a NON A/C truck then route the belt as shown. My truck came without a/c I installed it and there were no pulley changes just a different belt routed for an AC truck. I actually carry a spare non AC belt for this reason.

Thanks,
When looking at the routing sheet on post #6. in the below attachment,
it shows the smooth face tensioner pulley will be riding on the grooved edge of the belt.
That just doesn't sound right. Seems like it could damage the belt and also it may not stay in line

You need the grooves to help drive components, you don't need them to idle. I'm still using the original belt I installed after installing the AC when the truck was new.
