The red colored brake linings you speak off sound like Raybestos (the best in brakes), or so says their ad. they are sold at pep boys auto parts I think. I buy the premium pads and shoes, Bendix if I can find them. I'd rather put on good brakes once than replace "lifetime" pads several times I used to do that when I was younger and had more energy and less money I've found the premium pads don't dust as much as the store brand. I don't mind paying more for safety items such as brakes The perf. friction are full metallic for racing applications, they stop real good at the expense of your rotors.
