blown HG at 114K is this normal...
Just curious, i wasn't beatin the hell out of my truck, i was driving 40mph down the road the temp just pegged. It obviously blew from outside in, b/c there's no moisture on the block and its all over inside the head and valve cover, but not really on the dipstick at all. I really can't afford to yank the head and go ***** out like i want to, am i still looking at a $500 plus bill while still doing the work myself? Besides pulling the intake, turbo, and exh man, whats involved on the intake and injector side of motor as far as tear down? how far do i have to go, pull the injector pump? all the hard lines? I don't mean to be stupid about this but i'm just trying to figure out how's the best way to tackle it. Plus its one more thing the wife can whine about when it comes to this truck
thanks for the help.
thanks for the help.
If you haven't started work yet I suggest going to the Cummins website. You can register your engine number and get access to all the info you'll need. I just finished mine up If you need more info let me know.

Its not too hard of a job just take your time and its pretty straightforward.
You don't have to remove the Lift Pump or Injection Pump. Check out Quickserve.Cummins.Com there is alot of good info there and a step by step guide to help you remove the Headgasket.
If your even somewhat mechanical you can tackle a headgasket job on a cummins just be patient and start wrenchin!
Good Luck

Can you post the link to it?
It is well worth it IMO. I have used it more than a few times to fix things on my truck.
