Blown head gasket?
Blown head gasket?
Have been loosing a little coolant and noticed a little green on the back of the Valve cover and what looks like coolant running down from the gasket area. Double checking your ideas and have a trip next week. Anyone use the Bars for a good temporary fix?
I've used Bars for a temp radiator fix but not a head gasket. The area you are looking at and posted is right next to your heater hoses and is the top of the head (not the bottom where the gasket is). Are you sure your heater hoses aren't leaking? Floor board wet on passenger side? Have you done a pressure test to see if it hold pressure (if it doesn't it would indicate the leak). Coolant can be lost from many places and unless you are pumping 60psi of boost these motors don't typically blow head gaskets (good old fashioned iron heads/block). Find where your leak is rather than trying a temporary fix.
Looked like there had been some fluid leaking at the bottom of the head and didn't know if that would cause the green residue on the top of the head. Hoses are tight, replaced my heater core and no water or coolant smell in the cab. I'll double check and also do a pressure test which I have never done before. Able to do in the driveway? All stock but an edge EZ so no big boost. Thanks for the reply

From looking at the pic the head looks clean from what I can see. Looks like the green is only on the valve cover which is several inches above the head gasket location.
A pressure test is fairly simple and the tools can be rented from the auto parts store or your local rental shop. After a pressure test I would pressure wash the green stuff off and see if it starts to come back.
Looks like your doubled up on clamps on your heater hoses, I would replace the heater hoses and put some decent stainless clamps on. Maybe it was leaking from one of the clamps in the past??
