blowing air sound

blowing air sound
Hi,
My A.C. turns on but only comes out the defrost and floorbard, no vent. No matter where I put the switch. Today I popped the hood to check the trans fluid, and there is what sounds like blowing air up at the firewall on the drivers side. I really couldn't pinpoint it. Do these two have anything to do with one another? What could the blowing air sound be?
