Best and cheapest tranny fix?

I need to get my tranny rebuilt. Local guy will do a rebuild with shift kit and heavy duty torque converter for $2800.

How hard is it to just replace the entire tranny yourself with a reman? I've seen items such as these on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge...spagenameZWDVW

Is something like that worth it?

Perhaps I should get torque converter and shift kit from one of the recommended companies on here and have the local guy install it? I'm guessing the labor would be less if i dropped the tranny myself and put it back in, but I'm not familiar with the process.

Need to pull maybe once a year and not far or hard. Going to put in a Juice/Attitude but no other mods and I drive light footed.

I would check out Goerend transmissions. He makes great stuff, shifts nice and easy(no slaming gears) If you are going JWA then I would consider a upgraded torque converter and billit input shaft. I fryed my TC using JWA with in 20k of install. But I have a heavy foot. Here is his website http://gbtransmissions.com, he goes in depth on how an auto works and stuff like that.
