Battery Sensor?

ok, batterys went bad. Pulled them out and replaced. Before re-installing them, I noticed that there is some sort of sensor with wires that come off it on the driver side battery box. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks.

That is the battery temp sensor, it's used to relay temp info from the battery to pcm, and adjusts alternator charging rate up or down depending on temp of battery.
