Is this bad?
Re:Is this bad?
I plug my truck in all night and there really isn't a noticeable difference in when it is plugged in and when not plugged in as far as the amount of the bill, but generally it's hard to convince someone to change there mind that the bill will really go up if you plug the truck in.
Re:Is this bad?
Its not bad for the truck....just a huge waste of energy. Depending on where you live, in the coldest weather 3 hours should be sufficient. The block heater is 750 Watts at around 6 amps.
Re:Is this bad?
Well I did it. I plugged my truck in. Its 13 degrees here and I didn't know what to do so I said forget it, my dad's asleep and I'll be asleep when he wakes up so he'll have some time to cool off before I see him. Is it really as cheap as like $6 a month to run this thing all night every night and if so, how do i convince him of this? I'll be glad to pay him $10 a month but(which he wouldn't make me pay anyway) I just don't want him to be upset. I know he's gonna be "You had to have this diesel and the thing just keeps costing you more and more!" I'll let you know tomorrow how things go. Thanks again for all your help.
Re:Is this bad?
What's a kilowatt/hour of electricity run it western NY? It's has to be at least .$12. If so figure a buck a night, 6PM-6AM. It was 9 Friday morning, and I was plugged for 3 hours. The wait-to-start light came on for 2 seconds. If you drive it every day, a lot of latent heat remains in the block overnight. You'll notice a big difference in wait times on say a Monday when the truck has been sitting for some time.
