99 24 valve


While I am backing up and turning the wheel left or right I have being noticing vibrations or a grinding noise coming from the front end. it only happens when I am backing up...




any ideas ... ?

do you have a auto, manual, 2wd or 4wd. are you turning the wheels when you are backing up.
do you feel the vib's where? feet/floor, steering wheel, shifter if its manual, seat (your butt).

is it flat land or going over say a speed bump.

if you are turning I would look at axle u-joints but this would typically make sound going forward turning too. if its just moving straight would think moving forward straight would create the same sound if it was suspension releated. so I would think something tranny if only in reverse. is the sound (grinding) constant the entire time moving or does it just do it quickly when you start to move back? have you tried to see if sound would go away if you quickly put the truck in neutral when the sound is present?

 

Auto tranny, 4wd, turning wheels like I am backing up a trailer on flat ground. it feels like behind the petals.




just drove kids to school and turned down radio rolled down window. backed into my driveway and it wasn't doing it... its on and off thing I guess..
