axle swap help needed.97 into a 2000

ive searched unsuccecfully for an answer. i bought a 2000 to fix for my wife to drive with a bent dana 70 rear axle. i picked up a 97 dodge dana 70 to put in. will the speedometer work off the tone ring for the abs ? is it the same ring and pickup? if not what do i need to do to make the speed sensor work? help appreciated thanks. ratios are the same

If anything, you'll need to change the sensor in the housing. (the wiring plug "might" be different for the sensor is all.
Reluctor ring on the carrier is the same.

Doesn't the speedometer gets its information from a gear in the transfercase? It does on my 94.

as Redlinear pointed out, it gets its information from the reluctor ring, not the ring gear.

Hodge,
The '94-'97s have the speedo sensor is in the T-case.
The 98 -'02 have the speedo sensor is in the rear axle, at least on all the trucks I have seen.

The rear diff sensor is for ABS for sure.
NOW, what all else it does? Depends on who you ask.
In 1998ish they stopped putting a speedo sensor in the transmissions and transfer cases. Well, an "external" one anyway. I've been told it's now internal....AND...I've been told it reads off the rear diff also.
But, I've never needed to find out for sure yet, so....I dunno.

I was just pretty sure the sensors on the rear diff had a different plug from 97-98.
