Definitely time for new axle seals. It is differential oil that you are seeing. A auto parts store can get these seals for you for much less than the dealer.

Yeah, I redid mine the other day, very simple. And George is right, go to an auto parts store, because a dealer with rape you for those parts!!! Make sure to put the right amount of 80 90 diff oil back in when your done!!!

Check prices on the seals.

I did mine a few months ago and found the dealer to be cheaper than all the parts stores in town.

The actual job is pretty straightforward, about an hour per side. Depending on the rear axle you have you may need a special socket to get the axle nut off. Installing the new seal should be done very carefully, be sure that it is driven in evenly

Here's something for you to think about. If your axle is too full of lube, it will cause the seals to leak until the lube is at the proper level. Your axle should have the lube 0.75" + or - 0.25" BELOW the fill hole. If yours is too full , correct the level, clean up the leak (if it's not on the brake linings), and see if your leak stops. Seal replacement may not be necessary.

Also a clogged axle vent will cause an oil leak
