Automatic vs Manual
Re:Automatic vs Manual
A couple years ago I would have told you to go with a man trans, but since I've had mine upgraded with the DTT there's no way I would go back to a man trans. This thing is a great setup and its less than 3k$ with a few extras, including install. see sig below.
Re:Automatic vs Manual
Uh, maybe it's just me, but I think if you have to ask then you really wanted the auto. Shifting is either something you WANT to do, or something you'd rather not have to do.

I like the manual because it's rugged without $$$ for upgrades, it works with the exhaust brake, again, without $$ for any upgrades, it gives me great control in mountain driving with minimal use of the service brakes. And when my battery dies, if I can get towed to the top of a hill, I'll be able to start on a downhill roll.

The auto is better if you have a high percentage of around town driving, or if you need to drive off-road under certain conditions where you would lose too much momentum while shifting gears. The auto is good if you have to let others drive your truck - it's painful watching it leave, lurching as some driver struggles to control the torque of your diesel.
