How's this work, and what locks the shifter? If my keys are in the truck, I can shift from park without any brake pedal application. Brake lights aren't on, and brake pedal/lights work as they should. As long as the keys are in the truck I can shift to any gear I want.

Is there a switch, sensor, etc.. that might be broke somewheres?

 

My 01.5 is the same. I think it is only locked by the key.

 

Weird. Never been in another vehicle like it.

Same as my 02, I hate it. I used to let my kids play in the truck while it warmed up after a camping trip. No more since I figured that out.

If someone figures a way to make the brake be pressed before you can put it in gear let me know.

 

My 02 does the same thing if the key is turned on i dont need to apply the brake. No kids in my truck now.
