APPS Trouble? Read this!

First off, I've been reading alot of info on this site, and I'm really impressed.

Now I was having some major hesistaion problems, and after reading some posts it led me straight to the APPS sensor. I tried the reset procedure on this site, a couple of times, and that only made it worse.

So today I took the throttle assembly off the engine, and loosend the to torx bolts holding the actual sensor to the assembly. Then I rotated the sensor as far as the holes would allow (rotated clockwise as viewed from above). Did the reset procedure, and bam! the truck has never run this well in the 100K that I've owned it.

I guess since my throttle is usuall @ 1/4 or less, doing this method moved the internal contacts passed all the dead spots.

Hope this helps.

Ryan

What do you mean by dead spots?

From what I've read, dead spots are where the sensors internal contacts are worn or corroded. I think this causes the computer to try to go back to idle fuel.

first off that sensor is "manualy" calibrate meaning someone had it hooked up to a test rig and set it were it was and tightened those two torx screws in place were they "should" go. That is one reason the sensor costs around 500.00 big ones it does not automaticly calibrate it self on start up. You are correct in thinking that most of the issues people have are from worn out contacts most likely. Not sure how much adjustment you gave it but it sounds like it worked for you...i ponied up the $$ and bought one....took like 3 or 4 weeks for the thing to come in too.

anyway i would think if the adjustment range was pretty minimal then moving it won't hurt but i dunno. You sure nothing else changed like idle speed? Pedal response? top end?

Nothing changed, and yes the adjustment is very minimal.

I'm in the process of ordering a new one (any suggestions)

Knowing that mine is probably going to totally die in the next year or so.

Go to a Cummins dealer! There, they cost about half as much as your local Dodge dealer.
