anyway to clear CEL without a scan tool???????
anyway to clear CEL without a scan tool???????
i replaced my apps and im pretty sure i got my voltage set right but ive got my check engine light on. I dont have a programmer or a scan tool to clear the codes..is there any other way?
If you leave your batteries disconnected for a few hours it might do the job... If you are close to an Autozone they will clear your codes for free.
I'm assuming you're having the intermittent TQ converter lock up problem.
FYI recalibrating the APPS was never a permanent fix for me. I tried EVERY trick available ten times over. After two years the fix was a new ECM and a PCM reflash (PCM reflash is only available for 99). Hope your truck doesn’t give you as many problems.... If you want somewhere good to start PM me.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
If you absolutelly have to clear codes, this will do job.
Key off, all timers timed out. Remove """"ALL"""" positive leads to both batteries. Hold one positive cable terminal to the negative cable terminal. You are shorting the wiring, not the battery. You will see a small arc as terminal touches. Hold positive to negative for 1 minute and 65 seconds. This discharges all capicators (batteries) in computers. Now reconnect and you will again see a small arc as capicators are charged. All adapitive memories and codes will be removed and a fresh basic porgram is in place. You can do a apps reset if desired, but does not seem necessary as long as go to WOT during intial driving. JMHO
