Anyone have opinion on T5 Rotella?

Was at Wally world the other day and noticed they carry Rotella T5, a syn blend 10w-30. Anyone running this in your 2nd gen? I bought a quart just to top off since I was low, but I might switch to it my next oil change, if its any good, and only a buck more/gal

I can't say anything for sure about a second gen but we used it in the last change on our 06 cummins at work and got a little better mileage, but...not to long after that the truck began to do weird things, lots of motor vibration, it ran rough and even blew a little white puff at start up, not saying this was for sure caused by the t5 but just seems kinda funny since we never had a single issue with the truck before and now since we switched back to delo 15w-40 the gremlins went away....

Seems like you live in Virginia. I think the 15W-40 would be preffered with at least a CJ rating.
In my opinion Syn oil buys you very littel except faster flow a really cold temps(-20) and really hot/high load. Otherewise, any CJ oil will worlkfine, according to Cummins. The Valvoline Premium Blue 15W-40 is endorsed by Cummins and has the highest TBN numbers of any CJ oil, at leat, the last I read. That includes Synthetics.
If you change your oil every 4-7k, that is the most important thing!
Most of advertising for synthetics are mostly hype. Snththtic does work well in the differential and the Auto trannies. The 6 speed manuals/NV5600 require a specifc Chrysler spec, which Penzoil and some others meet.

wouldn't synthetics get one other thing..I thinking they are more resistant to coking that dino oils? in theory this should help the turbo live longer..

I use synthetics in the Jeep and Dodge but Delvac in my bus..the bus leaks too much for synthetics..its not caused by the oil..just google a Detroit 8.2L and check the number of link that have oil leaks...mine from the oil pan or the crank seal..its cheaper just to add oil..
