Let them do the in-tank. They'll run the wiring back for you free of charge, and it's a shorter run for when you do an airdog. Being an in-tank pump doesn't matter, since IIRC the Airdog-150 comes with a draw straw.

Good luck, just don't drive with poor pressure! Get gauges on it yesterday!

I guess since I haven't had any warranty issues I may just not know what I'm talkin about, but didn't the 02's come with Dodge's 7 year 70k mile warranty?

Also, my truck is doing the same thing, seems like I lose all boost when I go to accelerate. I can push in the clutch and floor the throttle, dump the clutch and it will take-off normally. I keep tellin myself that it's not the VP, since it will speed up, just real slow....And I'm not throwing any codes, also sound like a VP, or hopefully something cheaper? Seems to me like a boost issue maybe

I will be getting the airdog 100. From the reading I did, I was under the assumption that even with a drawstraw, you needed all the stock parts that are inside the tank, the ones that are replaced with the in-tank pump?

When I had the problem diagnosed ( I knew what the problem was, but you know dealerships, gotta get their $100 diagnostic fee out of ya!), they tested the flow of the lift pump, twice infact, and said that it test within spec. And my VP failure was electrical from what I have read on here (dead pedal, low or no power, white smoke, rough idle, etc.), so I dont think low fuel pressure caused my failure.

Dont get me wrong though. I am going to drive it straight from the dealership, to my house and park it untill the airdog is installed. I will also be very easy on the throttle on that drive home to keep fuel demands to a minimum. Far as the guage thing is concerned, I am going to be running an adrenaline with pulse, which will hopefully have fuel psi cappabilities again by the time I am ready to buy, so in the meantime I dont want to waste my money on a fuel pres. guage.

Hmmm, sounds like it could be a case of the "dead pedal"? Have you checked your codes? You can read them off your odometer by cycling the key 3 times, incase you havent done so yet. If it is the VP, it could be a lack of fuel pressure at the injector and low boost, since you will be creating less exhaust pressure at the turbo with a less efficient combustion process in your cylinders caused by lack of injection press. I know that towards the end of my VP's life, my turbo whistle sounded quieter (no boost guage), and had a definant lack of power, as well as crappy fuel mileage. I am still hoping that those issues will all improve with the new VP

Keep on em! My dealer fought me on this as well, insisting that their computer, and Chrysler say my truck is out of warranty. I would just act like I didnt hear them, and then I would whip out my handy warranty manual and make them read again what was printed in black and white, plain english, by chrysler, and provided to me, the consumer. I would then ask them how their was any other way that you could take it? Basically they had no answer, and some at the dealership even agreed with me.

Anyway, for an update. Took the truck in Tuesday morning, truck was done by that afternoon. I have been out of town since then, and will be picking it up in the morning. I will see then if they try and pull and "fast ones" on me. But they told me all I would be paying was the labor, which was $450. I am pretty pleased with this deal. While not as good as the full coverage deals others have gotten, I think it was as far as I was going to get without legal intervention, which I really wanted to avoid. Plus, it was a $2200 quote to replace it had I covered the whole cost, so $450 isnt too bad in my mind.

You may be right on the drawstraw, I'm not sure. Although, isn't there a draw straw II, for the folks with the in-tank? I can't say for sure, it's been awhile since I've done my lift pump and it's safe to say I'm glad I haven't had to think about it worry about it anymore

Best of luck!

Hey thanks, yeah, that makes sense about the lack of boost. I'll hook her up to the computer whenever my boss brings it back to work. No engine light on, but I know that doesnt always mean anything. Computer's got a bunch of data it can pull up and tests to run, so whenever I can get my hands on it I'll see what happens. Just startin to get nervous about it, just put a hub and halfshaft in it that went out, so I'm dead broke.

I picked up my truck today. The bill with tax was $463. Not too bad as far as im concerned! I owe a big thanks to 2500ram, and Wurkenman! They are both the ones that made me aware of the warranty in the first place, and they also helped me along the way to get this thing pushed through! Thanks again to both of you!!!!!

I drove the truck directly home, and parked it, till I get an airdog installed. I am not going to take any risks on damaging my new IP when I have another vehicle I can drive in the meantime. I drove very light footed, so I can not report on any power difference or differences in the way the truck runs at this time, but I will keep you all updated.

Thanks again!

Well done

For all, if you are haven't tapped the wire and your are under 8 years 136000 miles your IP is covered under warranty per the manual.

One more success to add to the pot of proof.

Now get that airdog installed and report back
