I'm a little confused...been wanting to do this for a while and I got on here to read up. I was always under the assumption I could just eliminate the puke bottle and run a hose strait down and zip-tie it off and just let it blow off onto the pavement. What is the principle of running it up and over the engine and then doing the same thing...I don't see how the blow-off can escape the tube like this. Forgive me if I sound ignorant...only 20 still trying to figure these things out.

there is nothing wrong with running it straight down and tieing off, letting it drip on the ground below. lots of guys do it. it is much easier and faster to do it that way, rather than the route i chose.

i chose this route mainly to keep the oil residue off of as many parts as possible (the farther back it goes, the less parts it can hit when in the wind). i don't mind getting my hands dirty - but if i had a choice of working on oily parts or clean ones - i would choose the clean ones, as i'm sure most of us would. on the other hand, the more parts the oil hits - the more parts are rust protected.

also, i remove and reinstall the fan with the changing seasons, so running it up and over gives me a tiny bit more room to work.

another reason i chose to go up and over with pvc was simply just a make work project, i had the urge to mod something on the cheap. it makes for a decent conversation piece when other guys look under the hood too . . .

Is there a need for the bottle if I choose to route this thing somewhere else?

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
My approach was cut the top off a aresol paint can amd bolt through bottom to frame ahead of left battery. There is a opening there. Replace the orginal rubber hose with a reinforced clear vinyl hose and run to the can. Used orginal puke bottle in can and stuff some foam on top of puke bottle. Clean puke bottle and mounted container as needed. Occasionally get some mist on battery but cleans off easily also. Much better than having to removed rad to get cleaned externally as when bought vehicle. Just my cheap fix.
