another code question

posting this for a friend. He has a 01 bone stock. After cycling through the key switch, hes getting codes "pcu" and "ecu". Could this be a problem?
Thanks

The codes would follow each of those.

ECU then ECM codes.
PCU then PCM codes.

He has no codes, or no codes that can be read with the key on/off method.

They only appear when you cycle the key.
