Air heater?
Air heater?
I forgot to plug the truck in last night and it didn't want to start too easy this morning. It got to about -20c last night.
I let the heaters warm for a 2nd time and went out and felt the intake pipe right above the heater grig.It was cool to the touch.
I had this happen once before when it got down to -35c.
It start fine if I keep it plugged in.
Is there a way to test the grid without taking the intake pipe off? I haven't done anything yet as I have to work 'till Saturday, then I'll be able to get to it.
Y'all helped me with the fuel issues so I figured you'd know what to do here now.
Thanks,Ragg

Just a guess on my part but if the lights dim on and off on cold mornings then the grids are probably working. That much load as a short would cause problems quickly, like plasma cutting a hole in your intake
.
Now my conversion skilz are a little rusty but I think that -20C comes somewhere between extremely cold and incredibly cold. At those tempratures it takes me a little longer to get started too.

Watch your charge gage , should go down & up a few volts , shows that it is working .
If not then disconnect the leads going to [ base of intake ] do a resistance test , do not know what the spec. is but should indicate some res. OK , none-open circut , bad .
If the heat eliment checks out OK , then look at relays , then temp. sensor , fuseable links .
