Ahhhh, going insain...
Ok here is the deal, Mom is getting on in years so she gave me her truck with training wheels, 2002 6spd 3500, 155000mi. She didn't drive it any real distances for a few years but I would run it too keep the batteries up and everything moving.
The long story, I put in 2 new batteries and a fresh fuel filter just because it was really long overdue and much needed. It started right up and ran like a top or I should say it did but I will get too that. As a precaution from sitting I figured the lift pump was close too being on the way out and put in a new one 30min later it started up sounded real sweet and the 3.5hr drive from Salem OR too Bremerton WA was a breeze didn't even burn 1/4 tank fuel. Go too work the next day still smooth sailing.
Then Murphy shows up, I head too work and get about 1/4mi from home and it slowly dies at the stop sign. I get it fired up after a few tries and rip home and it dies again so I stab the clutch and coast into the driveway and park. Trade out big truck for small truck and get too work.
Next day I go for the gold and try again, no CEL and no restart, the lift pump hums, sometimes 5sec sometimes 20sec. Starter wings engine over no problem, but it will not fire up. I checked the codes and here is what showed up. Code 0562 Batt/Alt, I can't see the batteries being bad as there quality made and new with that said I wonder if that is a false code left over from before I replaced them, I can't see the alt being needed much too start a diesel? the starter wings over like there is no tomorrow but I did throw a battery charger on just incase, still no joy.... Code 0230 fuel pump circuit malf. I replaced the lift pump, could it be a funky lift pump? I didn't think too look at the big pump for any wires until just now. Code 1693, that's just a code for both computers seeing a fault.
Its hard too shoot a clean truck but I'm close too slipping over the edge with it, or do I need too get it too the dealership?

Pull your fuel filter and check it, may be gunked up with the black death.
