Ahhhh Rattles!

Ok, after all of the American made vehicles i have owned i think this is going to be the last for a while. My truck is 9 mo old and has 4,000 miles on it and it has numerous rattles! It drives me crazy to have this practically new truck rattle esp how easy i drive it and after spending 40K on it! I know it isnt the most luxury vehicle and it is a work horse..but still it shouldnt rattle...i see a BMW or something in my near future...those cars with 50,000 miles + are still silent. Kind of wishing i would have picked up the M3 rather than the truck right now....

There must be something wrong. The Ram is noted for being one of the BEST interior fit & finish of all the trucks. My 2006 is really quiet. Not one squeak or rattle. Most of the 3rd Gen Truck owners say the same.

I would go to the dealer to have it looked at. Something is not right.

I haven't had any noise issues with my '06. The only noises that I can come up with: The power sliding rear window can be heard to shift slightly when ambient temps are low, kind of a creak. This is only noticeable when going over uneven terrain at low speeds (body flex). The other noise is the Jacobs e-brake switch rattle, which seems to have disappeared now or maybe I just don't notice it anymore.

Just got my 05 with 13000 miles and one thing that I have noticed is no rattles, I was pleasantly surprised.

I'll agree. I hate rattles. I wouldn't accept them in any vehicle. (I'll make some exceptions for my early Corvette convertibles.)

Japanese vehicles are not immune to rattles. I have a whole video series from a popular Japanese car company on how to repair the typical rattles in their vehicle line.

Take it to the dealer and get them fixed. My '03 is incredibly rattle/squeak free. You shouldn't have any.

My 04 with 64K miles and still no rattles. But it was built in Mexico, so I guess it's imported.

I had rattles and squeaks from the plastic rubbing and popping on the doors from day one. I've had my truck for over two years and thought it was something that I just had to live with. My passenger side front door was the worst. Even the folding/tow mirror would rattle against the window. I saw on here a tip to use silicon based spray lubricant. I got it at an Advanced Auto Parts store, comes in a blue spray can with one of those little straws. I couldn't find it myself and had to ask if they even had any. They kept it well hidden. Anyway, I sprayed that onto all the areas where I had squeaks, rattles, popping, etc. I even wiggled all the plastic panels in my truck to make sure I didn't miss anything. You can even spray this stuff on the door seals. I am now squeak and rattle free for about a month now. I only applied the stuff one time, and have already logged about 3000 miles over highway, pavement, gravel, and dirt roads. My truck currently has about 64,000 miles on it. No mess or any sign that this stuff was even sprayed on the surfaces either. I would highly recommend trying it.

my 4x4 shifting squeeked and drove me nuts but I fixed that with a disc sander.

now my drivers door panel squeeks and I hate it. but cant find it. my solution is to turn up the stereo, get on the loud pedal more, maybe I'll get that 4" cut-out that is floating around the threads.

My driver's door will squeek sometimes. If I wipe the rubber weather proofing down with a rubber lube, it quits. The only other rattle in my truck is the 6 speed tranny, which the dealer tells me is "normal". Yeh, I really believe that, but I don't want them back into it messing around. If they want to replace the total transmission, fine, but otherwise no. I hate it, but I live with that one. The rest of the truck is extremely quiet.

No rattles here- most of the time

My truck is comming up on 40,000 miles. I find that nearly rattles are from cargo (coins/fasteners in the ashtray, stuff under the rear seats or in the console). If the visors aren't seated poperly in their mounts, they can sure make a lot of racket. Other than an occasional dash rattle at idle that comes and goes, my truck is pretty much rattle free.

I had a bad rattle and found it to be the nerf bars. You cojldn't shake them with your hand or foot to rattle them but go down the road and they would drive you nuts. They readjusted them. Silence is golden.

Read the reviews. The Ram truck is one of the quietest out there. Fit & Finish is very good.

I knoe 2006 models have a HYDRO-FORMED frame. But did all 3rd gen trucks come with it?

That HYDRO-FORMED frame makes a BIG difference....

I had a rattle in the passenger side lower front inside the cab and figured out it was the tranny dipstick hitting on the ac lines. It only rattled when I changed gears. Pushed the dipstick away no more rattle.
