I just replace the LP on my 24v, I had to pull the 1st one off after 1800 miles,
but the new 2nd pump is doing the same thing.
At idle seeing 14 psi, I can draw it down to 5-6 psi getting on it hard pulling.
I'm going to change the fuel filter in the AM to see if that makes a difference, but I have a GAS inline pusher fuel pump (new never used from a airplane project) Here's my question, the pump is rated at 15psi volume unknow, I was thinking I would plum it in right after the metal lines going to the rubber lines. Will this gas pump be ok pumping diesel? Any thoughts? Good or bad, I'm looking for some input.
The LP issues, the diesel people where I bought the pump said if the 2nd pump behaves the same way as the 1st pump, I have a different problem.
These 2 pumps are acting the same way. He said he never seen 1 fail early on.

I wouldn't do it. USDieselparts.com handles an in-line aftermarket pump. I have one in use and it works great. It dosen't come on till the oil pressure comes up (it is switched by an oil pressure switch that comes with it). This eleiminates the hard starting problem with two pumps starting at once. My pressure never drops below 14lbs and ranges up to about 30lbs. It was installed inside the frame below about where the drivers seat is. It took me about 1 1/2 hrs.

 

Why not?? I can start the pump after startup by switching it on and off?
My setup will be no different then your set up.Am I missing something? Not trying to be course or anything, I'm just wondering.

You asked, just my opinion. I like staying with components designed for fuel oil. The goal is to protect the health of a very expensive pump. Your VP44. Experimenting here could be very costly.
