? about fuel tank

i was taking a trip the other week and i started have fuel pressure problem. i changed my fuel filter and it helped for about 20-30 miles and them fuel pressure goes back down. it seems to return back to normal if i let it set for awhile. i am also wondering it there is a screen or filter in side the tank. i have installed a holley blue pump on the frame awhile ago to replace the lift pump when i installed a new vp44. i have a edge juice with monitor installed. the fuel pressure is taken right at the vp44. i was thinking that i must have something plugging up at the tank. does anyboge have any suggestions. thanks for the help.

It may be possible for something to be plugging the pickup in the tank, but my guess would be that the lift pump is getting tired. you can test for restriction in the tank by teeing in a vacuum gauge between the lift pump and the tank. The problem is that you would have to wait for the low pressure to occur to verify that the inlet restriction didn't change.

I pulled my tank at 120,000 miles....more for curiosity than any other reason! Was very impressed with how clean the tank and the two mesh screens in the pickup module were.
I doubt that that is your problem!

i have already replaced the lift pump. i had a carter p4601hp on it before. the reason i changed it was i was thinking that once it got hot it would start loosing pressure. it helped for a while. i think that i am going to pull the tatnk just to see what it looks like inside. that way i will know for sure thats not the problem.
