Plus the output shaft is larger. For a correct fit you need the 241 dhd.

We just bought one from these guys. Good product and service.

The cummins had both the 241DLD and the 241DHD. The difference is the DHD has a pto cover and is longer. If you have the LD and buy the HD, you will have to get your driveshaft shortened.

Make sure you get one from the same transmission as your truck. Autos have a 23 spline input, manuals have a 29 spline input.

Are you sure the cummins had the 241DLD???? As far as i know the 241DLD and a smaller output shaft diameter and was used in gas applications not diesel.

Tate has it correct DLD = diesel light duty and DHD = diesel heavy duty

DHD is the one with the pto cover and length is different.

DHD was an optional upgrade in a 2500 series truck my 96 was ordered that way.

DHD=Dodge heavy duty
DLD=Dodge light duty

So when the DLD is in a diesel application it has the smaller output shaft???

Mine does. Same torque rating as the DHD, just without the ability to run a PTO. Even the DLD is heavier than the 241 in the half tons.
You need the number off the transfercase that you currently have. There are over 20 model variations used in these trucks, and that number needs to match unless you want to open it up and start switching parts.
