ive done that a couple times and mines fine.

 

My third gear has been hard to get into since the truck was new, especially when I exposed it to cold temps on trips up north in the winter.

I was going to put some STP in the box on my last change, but did not do for fear of the unknown from what I read about other oils in the gear box that were not synthetics.
