Automatic Cold Shifting

I have a 94 2wd dually with a 12v and 4 speed automatic, when the engine is cold the second shift seems to hold in gear, after it does that once or twice within a couple of blocks, it shifts ok. After driving for a while it will shift great until it once again sits long enough to get cold, I would appreciate any help, regards

I've noticed similar things before. When mine is cold, it tends to not go into OD. Let her warm up for a while or whatever, and you should be alright...

Mine does that too. I think it has something to do with line pressure. If you start your truck up in the morning and let it warm up in neutral it will act normal. I dont think it is anything to worry about.

Might be the speed senser located at the rear of the tranny. I think I paid $20 - $30 for a new one. Made a nice improvement in how mine shifts.

cold shifts

The 94 and 95 automatics were built with a temp senser that does this until tranny temp comes up. It is annoying, but thats the way it was designed. It can be overiden with a capacitor if wanted, but not necc..
