6 spd clutch
6 spd clutch
I've got a 2002 6spd h.o. with 50,000 miles and the clutch is slipping. Which clutch would be better a centerforce dual friction or a southbend? Is ther any other clutches there that
would be better? Currently have bully dog 65hp module but plan to upgrade to 60 or 80hp injectors so I need to have something thats going to last and not slip.

Re:6 spd clutch
Depending on your current, or future horsepower levels, you may at least inquire about the Con FE as well as the OFE. The FE is rated at I believe ~100 horsepower more than the OFE. I don't know about the price difference, but I would not expect it to be too great.

I am of the opinion: even if it costs a bit more initially, go for all you can the first time and you hopefully won't have to upgrade it again later (unless it fails, of course).

I have the Con FE, by the way ;D

Tom

Well I am a cheap son of a buck, southbends are nice and have a good rep, but tst has a ceramic button for like five hundred or so, won't slip, might break but won't slip.

Heath

Re:6 spd clutch
I have had a lot of button clutches in trucks. They are either engaged or disengaged, no slip. I would not have one in a street driven truck. Another habit they have is needing to replace the flywheel at a clutch change. The buttons do not wear the flywheel does. Unless they have advanced the ceramic button clutches greatly since I have had one, stay with a standard facing. Your drive line and transmission will love you for it.

Re:6 spd clutch
One thing you DON'T want in these trucks if you do any towing, is a grabby clutch - the drivetrain in these is sorta like a clockspring, too flexible, and any clutch that's not smoooth, will reward you with LOTS of drivetrian windup and severe jerking - especially backing a trailer uphill...
