i read on tdr that the nv5600 is no longer made,& you cannot get parts for it any more... if i remember right they have to have parts available for 10 years , (at least for american made.... federal law) somebody correct me if i`m wrong ( i used to be a professional mech in 1986...things may have changed)

 

I believe that you are correct on the 10 year law.

 

I've been looking to do a auto-to 6spd swap and can't find a NV5600 anywhere, and with the parts issues I'm starting to think of other options. Even the G56 seems to be real hard to find used right now and being that it was never offered for 2000 I'm sure it would take some serious effort to get it installed.

 

OEM was req to support item for 10yrs - if oem dissolves, so does obligation.
