Question 5300 block

I'm not finding much luck in the search for this, hard to belive maybe I'm dense. Anyway how do you tell if you have a 5300 block ?

i was looking for the number's also.i found a tag on the driver's front of the engine near the injector pump.i'm not sure which one's to go buy though.

did they use these block's in 3rd gen's too?i thought it was just second gen

No I was looking into buying a 2nd gen again and didn't want to get the dreaded block, it sounds like the latest 5300 was maybe early 2001 but, I doubt there are many. I know my 98.5 I had was but, that came from a diesel guy I knew

If you search for a 53 block you will have more luck.

Most people just call it 53 not 5300. Here is a link that has an explination and some pictures.

I am on my second truck that sports the good ol 53 block. First truck (01) I had I didnt know any better when I bought it. I didnt even realize it had a 53 untill it had well over 100k. My current 99 has a 53 block and I bought it knowing so. It has 226,xxx miles on it and no problems. Regardless what people say, there are a lot of these out there. When I was buying my 99, I looked at maannnny trucks and most of them had a 53.

Moral of the story, I aint scared. lol If it goes it goes.
