Have a look here:

It looks like the extension housing on the rear.

Thank you, mkubacak

That is what I was looking for.
It looks as though the 2wd, at 820.5 mm, is the longer one though, as compared to the 4wd unit at 796.5 mm. I wonder if they got the captions crossed?

I'm thinking that if I can use the 2sp tranny, I can do a straight swap without doing the drive shafts. They've already been done for the underdrive unit bolted to the back of the 5 sp.

I guess I'll see on the morrow when I get the joy of making all those lovely calls.

Thankx
Ruadh

Goodness talk about old threads

My six speed has been in for about 140,000 miles now. It is flawless, always has been. Mine is 4x4 and the shaft has been shortened six inches. Runs the five speed shifter and an SBE clutch.

Mention was made of the difference in length. The transmission is twice the size of the five speed, one heavy piece if iron that just fits into the truck. You will need the shifter stub for the six speed the lever fits from the five speed.

The 4x4 bolts up to the transfer case same as the five speed. But is six inches longer.

You're just no fun at all. I was hoping that the diff was just the tailshaft housing.

If you have not done it, I highly recommend the short shifter from BD.
