4wd light

The in dash 4wd indicator light is not working in my truck. When i turn the key on, the light flickers on for an instant then stays off and does not light up during the bulb check. if i turn the key off and then back on, the light will not flicker or turn on at all. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with something like this or knows how to fix it. The light is not that big of a deal, more of a luxury, but i would rather have it working if I could fix it.
Thanks
Cory

does 4wd work? I noticed vacum lines on the bottom of the truck, they are cheap rubber connected to metal line, they did'nt put any clamps on there. If one of the rubber lines comes off then it won't go into 4wd, and the light won't come on either.

yes, the 4wd works fine, and all the vaccum lines are ok. one thing i did find though, is that the electrical plug that plugs into the axle was not connected. So i re-connected it and the light still doesnt work.
Any more input would be appreciated.

thanks

the wires you found at the front axle jump the two togeather and see if the light works.

Cory,
I've got a similar problem. My 4x4 light does'nt come on at all...ever. The 4x4 works fine though. I should probably get under there and check the wires, or pull the dash off, maybe the bulb is just burnt out

I had the same problem. The wires to the switch were broken about 6" from the connector end. The insulation was OK but the wire inside was broken. I had to make a new section of wire to replace the bad section. As mentioned above, if you jump the two wires together the light should come on.
