47rh to Jeep D300?
47rh to Jeep D300?
I'm getting a 4wd 47rh without the transfer case. I'd like to mate a Jeep D300 to it, but I haven't gotten a clear answer to know if it'll bolt up or if I need an adapter (or if this idea is just stupid and find another plan). I figure they're both Chrysler products, they're likely to bolt up.
As a followup question: Jeep D300s come in driver's side drop and passenger side drop. I haven't committed to my front axle choice, so I'd like to keep both sides open as an option. If Jeep D300s are a bolt up in general, are both DSD/PSD Jeep D300s interchangable?
Thanks guys!

You may be right, we'll see. But it's behind a 4bt, not a 6bt. And it's not going to be tuned up really at all. And it'll be only on mild to moderate trails at worst. I think it'll be ok.

FWIW, the question wasn't if I should choose the D300, it was if it would bolt up. Sorry to step into a tech forum and ask if I needed an adapter between a transmission and transfer case that weren't factory-mated.
I do like the idea of the D300, and I've learned from other forums that no adapter is necessary unless I need to clock it to the drivers drop if I swap front axle. That adapter is available from Advance Adapters for $241 plus shipping if anyone else is curious.

No worries Iron Pony, I appreciate the different point of view and your concerns.
Every piece of gear has its breaking point, but I'm not a hard driver and this won't be on a tuned-up rig. The 4bt-47rh-D300 is going in a Scout Traveler which will be an 'all around' truck. It'll stay mild enough to get good mileage, but be a capable enough 4x4 for mild trails, camping, going to the beach, etc. I have D44's front and rear geared at 3.54, running 33-10.50s. Like I said, pretty average but capable enough for my needs.
The added advantage of the D300 is that I can run it with my current axles, or clock it around with the adapter mentioned above if I have to swap my front axle to driver side drop (to make room for the exhaust on the 4bt down the passenger side). I'm hoping I can make it work as is, but clocking the same piece of gear instead of finding/buying another piece of gear is a lot easier.
