it comes to mind that the converter lockup solenoid may have an intermittent problem

Well boys & girls I figured out (or I should say Chip, at Blue Chip Diesel figured out) what the problem was on my truck. Remember I just replaced the VP44 and the problem started? I finally am picking up codes, 0602 (I think) Fueling error code. The ECM cannot communicate with the injection pump to tell it to up the RPM when I shift into drive. BAD INJECTOR PUMP! right out of the box.

Go ahead and say it Ed, I should have called Blue Chip Diesel.

P0602 is a fuel calibration error that is commonly caused by the Smarty and is benign. I hope Blue Chip diesel knew that you were running the Smarty.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Think the low stall converter and extra tranny pressure could be causing the stalling.. If I understand, it starts up and idles fine till you pull into gear and rpm sags and or stalls as tranny catches the gear. So it is not getting air in lines...... I suspect the other part of your dilema has to do with different calibration of new pump. Probablly a upgrade in fueling schedule vs RPM.
try cleaning the MAP sensor, APPS reset, clean all bat cables, Throttle cable to tranny.
