Well, tabbed my KDP today. The pin was flush with the gear cover and I could only tap it in slightly. If these early 24 valves have the stepped cover like Cummins says, how could the pin be flush with the cover?? Any one know how far in the step starts on the new style covers??
I think some of the early 24 valve engines are at risk, if you have one get her fixed!

 

I think it's an 1/8 inch little steppy thingy.
If it was flush, it wasn't the updated cover.

There have been pictures of the old cover and the updated one, not sure if here or other sites though.

I think the KDP has been found in as late as early 2001, very rare though.

99.99999% sure my 2002 is safe from both the KDP and the 53 block.
