Sounds to me like they are just "throwing parts" at your truck. It ran fine before he touched it, chances are it was something they did. Did they even try to 'kill' each injector by cracking a line and try to figure out which hole it was missing on??? Im still leaning towards the vp44 shaft key or a air leak...

yes I believe it was number 4 they suspected. They just called wanting to know who put the vp44 in two years ago duh it was them. Said they are calling there pump distributor in Ga I believe. Also sounds like they might be getting us a rental . Said all she could find was a flatbed from home depot. Wont be allowed to pull trailer but at least I might be able to get some work done before I lose customers.

I am going insane, still no word on my truck. They rented me a home depot van today so I can mow some lawns I get in and called and they had to put my truck on hold today to fix a truck that was there before mine and said I can keep the van tomorrow so if i hump this week is done. I asked if they possibily got trash in it and they say no so, I don't know whats going on. the mechanics wife said she was on the phone with a cummins tech last light said it was a kid and she has 30 yrs with diesel. Sounds like they are trying. The mechanic said it ran good when I drove it in it will run when its done. I dont know what to think. she also mentioned truck had a code for voltage issue on fuel sending unit which I already told them my fuel guage quit last year and worked for a minute a few weeks ago so and it ran fine with the code.I asked if I would have my truck by Monday and she said she hopes so.

Turns out vp44 was dead so 500 dollar oil leak turned into 2000 dollar repair should be ready in morning. They will let us make payments and said we are only paying for parts. It will have new injectors, lp ,vp44 and they also adjusted valves and replaced a few other gaskets.

What a joke... I wouldn't give that place a dime for anything other than the cost of labor/parts for the side cover...

It ran good when you took it in, they even admitted that. They are throwing parts at it and expecting you to pay for them, no way. Get an attorney. They broke it, they have to fix it. They have insurance to cover things like this, it is part of doing that kind of business. I had to eat a few jobs but never anything like that. I would have sent the truck to the dealer myself for a diagnostic long ago if I were the owner of that shop.

Day 30 and now they say they hope to have it running sunday. The cummins south guy never showed and they were po'ed. So cant figure why they are so confident it will run sunday as Im not getting the technical details. First it sounded like they were admitting the tappet gasket was crumbled and an employee may have caused it then they say it was clean. They were taking vp to be tested again and today he wasn't working on it but said he put pump back on and still had to put head back on ? Why would head be off. I have been patient since they have been renting me a van but time has ran out this is hurting my business.
